Classes of Standpipe Systems
Section 5.3.1 Class I Systems
A Class I standpipe system shall provide 2.5 in. (65 mm) hose connections to supply water for use by fire departments and those trained in handling heavy fire streams.
Section 184.108.40.206 Class II Systems
A Class II standpipe system shall provide 1.5 in. (40 mm) hose stations to supply water for use by trained personnel or a hose connection for the fire department during initial response.
Section 5.3.3 Class III Systems
A Class III standpipe system shall provide 1.5 in. (40 mm) hose stations to supply water for use by trained personnel and 2.5 in. (65 mm) hose connections to supply a larger volume of water for use by fire departments and those trained in handling heavy fire streams.

Minimum Sizes for Standpipes
Class I and Class III standpipes shall be at least 4 in. (100 mm) in size.
Standpipes that are part of a combined system shall be at least 6 in. (150 mm) in size.
Locations of Hose Connections
Hose connections shall be located so that there is at least 3 in. (76.2 mm) clearance between any adjacent object and the handle of the valve when the valve is in any position ranging from fully open to fully closed
Hose connections and hose stations shall be unobstructed and shall be located not less than 3 ft (0.9m) or more than 5ft (1,5m) above the floor

Min & Max Pressure Limits
A minimum residual pressure of 100 psi (6.9 bar) at the outlet of the hydraulically most remote 2.5in. (65 mm) hose connection and 65 psi (4.5 bar) at the outlet of the hydraulically most remote 1.5 in. (40 mm) hose station.
The maximum flow rate shall be 1000 GPM (3785 L/min) for buildings that are sprinklered throughout, in accordance with NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, and 1250 GPM (4731 L/min) for buildings that are not sprinklered throughout, in accordance with NFPA 13.
Section 18.104.22.168.1 For Class I and Class III systems
The minimum flow rate for the hydraulically most remote standpipe shall be 500 gpm (1893 L/min), through the two most remote 2.5 in. (65 mm) outlets, and the calculation procedure shall be in accordance with 22.214.171.124.

126.96.36.199.1 For Class II systems, the minimum flow rate for the hydraulically most remote hose connection shall be 100 gpm (379 L/min).
Section 7.10.3 Maximum Flow Rate for Individual Connections
